What Are Solidified Ashes?
Solidified ashes are a new, natural way to turn cremated remains into something you can hold, wear, and cherish — without resin, glass, or diamonds.
Unlike resin jewelry, which suspends a small portion of ashes in plastic, or cremation diamonds, which use extreme industrial processing, solidificationgently transforms ashes into smooth, solid forms through heat and natural materials.
At Nia Emberly, our patent-pending process preserves the integrity of the ashes — creating heirloom-quality memorial stones that are completely organic and truly one of a kind.
How Solidified Ashes Compare to Resin Jewelry and Cremation Diamonds
| Type | Made From | Process | Pros | Cons |
| Resin Jewelry | Small sample of ashes + epoxy resin | Ashes are mixed with clear resin and sealed | Affordable, customizable | Can yellow or crack; synthetic |
| Cremation Diamonds | A few grams of carbon from ashes | Carbon is pressurized into a diamond over weeks | Visually stunning | Very expensive ($3,000–$10,000+); not the whole remains |
| Solidified Ashes (Nia Emberly) | 1/2 cup of ashes | Ashes are transformed using heat and minerals into solid, natural forms | Authentic, natural, long-lasting | Only available through Nia Emberly |
Why Families Choose Solidified Ashes Over Resin or Diamonds
1. A More Authentic Connection
Solidified ashes are made entirely from your loved one’s remains. Nothing added, nothing hidden — just the essence of their story, transformed.
2. Natural and Sustainable
No chemicals, no synthetic shine. The process relies on heat, time, and human care — not industrial machines or plastics.
3. Every Piece is One-of-a-Kind
Each stone’s pattern, tone, and texture reflect the unique composition of the ashes, creating an organic beauty that can’t be replicated.
4. Durability that Lasts for Generations
While resin can fade or crack, solidified ashes are inherently stable and designed to become lasting heirlooms.
How the Process Works
- Collection — A 1/2 cup of cremated remains is respectfully received and documented.
- Transformation — The ashes are purified and solidified through natural mineral bonding and controlled heat.
- Finishing — The resulting stones are hand-shaped and polished, becoming the centrepiece of your jewelry.
- Return — Each piece is returned with care, alongside any unused ashes placed in a small keepsake obelisk.
Each step is done by hand in our Edmonton studio, ensuring the process remains as human as the memories it honors.
The Emotional Difference You Can Feel
It’s hard to explain the first moment someone holds their finished jewelry. Some describe it as grounding, others as a quiet sense of peace.
Resin and diamonds can be beautiful, but solidified ashes feel different — they carry weight, warmth, and presence.
This is not a copy of your loved one’s memory; it’s a continuation of it.
That’s why our mantra is simple:
Ashes to Heirlooms.
Why It Matters
We believe memorials should feel alive — organic, tactile, and meaningful to hold.
Our pieces aren’t about replacing grief with beauty. They’re about allowing beauty to live beside grief.
